Summer festivals are coming and the Smoke-Free Ontario Act allows cannabis to be consumed (in smokeable form) anywhere citizens of age can smoke cigarettes. Not all events allow cannabis to be consumed on-site but here is a round-up of all of the best festivals and events in Ontario where patrons can bring some bud and legally toke up.
Toronto Craft Beer Festival
The Toronto Craft Beer Festival has announced its intention to include cannabis in its annual celebration of Craft Beer this year. Through a collaboration with Kensington Market’s HotBox Cafe, this 10,000-attendee event will be the first time legal cannabis consumption POTio accessible at a provincial event. HotBox owner, Abi Roach, says she intends to make a place where patrons can smoke their own bud, take a break from the crowds, and learn about cannabis and safe consumption.
2nd Annual Indigenous Cannabis Cup
The second annual Smoke Signals Indigenous Cannabis Cup opens at Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory on Lake Ontario. It runs for four days, including overnight camping from May 31st until June 3, when the Cup winners will be announced.
Finally, an April 20th in a post-prohibition landscape. 420 festivals will happen all across Ontario but none are as big as the one happening in Toronto.
Cannabis Comedy Festival
Among the laughs on April 18th, the Cannabis Comedy Festival will feature erotic pole dancing and a special guest appearance by UFC Middleweight Elias (The Spartan) Theodorou.
The Karma Cup
The Karma Cup in September is all about elite cannabis products from around Ontario. The best producers come together for two days in Toronto to be recognized for their hard work. A panel of beloved Karma Cup judges will evaluate cannabis by category, award the best, and shop the rows of vendors for glass, accessories, and dope merch.
If you have a medical marijuana card, and your own bud, TVape has a space inside the Lift Expo floor for patrons, exhibitors, and speakers to take a break and try out some of the latest vape tech. Out on Front Street is where you’ll find the joints and blunts.
Hotbox 420 Block Party
Toronto’s unofficial weed HQ, Hotbox Lounge + Shop in Kensington Market, hosts its 19th annual all-day 420 party, complete cannabis-infused “potails”, shatter shots and joint-rolling competition. Entry is free but BYOB(ud).
