Cannabis was legalized in Toronto on October 17th, 2018. The Canadian Federal Government legalized cannabis across Canada through the passing of Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act.
This Act legalized the distribution, sale, possession and consumption of cannabis.

How old do I need to be to purchase cannabis in Toronto?
You must be 19 and older to buy, use, grow and possess recreational cannabis. This is the same as the minimum age for the sale of tobacco and alcohol in Toronto.
It is a criminal offence to share marijuana with minors.
How much cannabis can I buy / possess in Toronto?
You are allowed to have a maximum of 30 grams of cannabis in public at any time.
Can I smoke cannabis in public in Toronto?
Smoking cannabis is permitted in most public places in Toronto. You may smoke pot anywhere that smoking tobacco is permitted. This includes sidewalks & parks.
You may not smoke anywhere children gather. This includes school grounds, playgrounds or near child-care centres. Additional locations where smoking is not permitted include sports fields, near public pools or hospitals.

Yes. Marijuana may be carried in cars but it must be stored in a closed or fastened container out of the reach of the driver.
It is illegal to use or consume cannabis in a motor vehicle and it is illegal to drive under the influence of marijuana.
